Easter Review 2009
Now that the big bunny day is over, lets get down to business and review some of the best and worst candy that was up for offer this season!
For the rest of the month, post a comment about new candy you tried this year, your least liked, or your very favorite Easter Candy
-and you will be entered to win a mini Sweet B lollipop Baby!
Just to get the ball (or egg) rolling...
My personal favorites
Yes, the coconut nest!. Although I usually don't eat the jellybeans, just the coconut nest part- I just can't get through the Easter season without eating at least 3 or 4 of these, and they have to be Russel Stovers. I think the first one I had was in February - right after Valentines. Shameful, but true!
Another ALL TIME favorite
The Cadbury Creme Egg
Growing up in New Zealand resulted in a steadfast allegiance to ANYTHING Cadbury - the creme eggs being up at the top of the list.
This year the Orange Creme egg was a nice surprise. The orange flavor was different -but went well with the creamy interior.
Quick Facts from CadburySo, how do people eat their Creme Egg?
53% of people bite off the top, lick out the 'creme' then eat the chocolate
20% just bite straight through
16% use their finger to scoop out the 'creme'
How people unwrap their eggs can also reflect their Creme Egg eating style, we have...
Delicate Peelers - To achieve a considered, methodical & subtle eat
Stage Peelers - Who unwrap just enough to keep the 'creme' off their fingers
Quick Discarders - Who rip off the foil as they just can't wait to eat their Creme Egg
Personally I like to put mine in the freezer, crack it open, and eat the filling with a tiny salt spoon.
Just a quick note here: Last year Cadbury put out a Christmas Ornament Creme Egg ...
... that was WRONG - just plain WRONG!
Keep the Candy Seasons Seperate guys!
Some new additions to my candy basket
Brachs Chicks and Rabbits. These little cuties have the same consistency as Circus peanuts - Especially good if the bag is left open for a few days (Have I ever mentioned my penchant for stale candy?)
Have you tried these little beauties?
Raspberry 3 Musketeers - delish!
And the Nostalgic Contingent.....
Sugar eggs! I won one of these as a child - it was HUGE (at least I remember it being huge), I can still remember how beautiful I thought it was, and how I ate it really slowly - breaking off pieces at night before bed (what were my parents thinking - letting me keep it in my room??) AND - how my brother cried because I wouldn't share - that was probably the best part.
Ok - I've totally "Spilled" my Easter Basket - lets hear from you!
- Sweet B

OMG! Our Easter candy favorites are one and the same...coconut nest AND all time fav...the almighty Cadbury Creme Egg! For shame on x mas ornament creme eggs! BUT my ultimate fav is a LARGE Russel Stover White Chocolate Bunny, take bites alternating with jelly beans. AND when we were little my Mom made my sister and I the most large and gorgeous sugar eggs...ever! We were so lucky to have them....I LOVE Easter candy, its the best!
I have to comment on this one! Absolutely the caramel Cadbury egg. I could eat them forever! Oh, and I love the new three musketeers mint, yummy!
Hey Jody - I totally hear you about that edible grass! - I bought some last year and was REALLY excited to try it - it was really foul - kind of like real grass is "edible" - you CAN eat it - but do you really WANT to?!!
Popping in for a quick hello!
Have a great upcoming week.
PS: I couldn't find ANY Cadbury creme eggs this year for Easter! Can you believe it? The only ones in my area were the caramel ones...I was scared to try them! ~ LOLOLOL '-P)
Chris (-:
Put me in with the 53% of Cadbury egg eaters! Only 53%???? Is there any other way?
Ok you "EGG HEADS" - Cathy, I would have put you down for marshmallow bunnies (don't know why - but that was my first thought)
Chris - I could send you some Cad Eggs from my stash but it's heating up here - they may be "scrambled" by the time they got to you - 89 degrees yesterday!
-B
I'm in that 53 percentile too. I love Cadbury creme eggs... but I'm going against the grain (don't hate me) and I'll say if I could find them here at Christmas, I'd buy them... that's how much I love them!
As for new candy, well it would be the Necco candy buttons that someone very Sweet (wink, wink) sent me. YUM!
Yucky candy, hmm... I guess it would be Starburst, because it smells like faux fruit, oh and Skittles which are truly dreadful!!
Hey B... What ever happened to Koo Koos? I think that's what they were called. They were a stretchy taffy-like substance in a neopolitan coloured strip. I'm off to see if I can find them online.
Lori
Ok, Rudolph! - you are officially on my "naughty" list!! EVERYONE knows you shouldn't mess with candies that are holiday specific - I mean really, if we allow the cadbury egg at christmas - what's going to be next? - Candy heart in red, white, and blue for the 4th of July - well, that's just plain "Koo KOO!"
Hello Amelia~(Sweet B)! I wanted to stop in and thank you for your part in the Prim and Whimsy Easter parade basket give-away! (whew!) I just received it today and it is wonderful! Thankyou! I also want to say that your Easter candy post is great! made me laugh out loud!(: Funny, I love stale candy too!
well, at least the marshmellow chicks anyway! I love Russell Stover and the raspberry muskateers,(haven't had them yet but~yummm!) I am "new" to this blog land and have just started my own jouney of blogging and would love for you to stop in if you have a chance! Spring Blessings! Kathy
I love, love love Cadbury Creme eggs! They first came out when my son was little and every year since I look forward to the clucking bunny commercial. I've missed it since we've been in Utah as we don't have TV hooked up :-(. I wonder if it's on youtube??? :-)
Does anyone know if the little tiny bird egg jelly beans an be found anywhere?
Sheryl
Ohhh - didn't know about the tiny bird egg jelly beans - let me know if you find them - they sound good!
I think you may be able to watch commercials on the actual Cadbury website.
I adore peeps but only the yellow, the pink taste weird!! I had a sugar egg once but my grandma put it up so we couldn't eat it!!!
