September Candy of the Month

That's Right.... This months candy is
RED VINES!

Let me be very clear here - we are talking about luscious Red Vines NOT the scourge of the licorice world... Twizlers!

Red Vines are made by the American Licorice Company. Established in 1914, The American Licorice Co. is one of the oldest companies in the U.S. Candy industry.

candy of the month

Originally, Red Vines were raspberry flavored. The current "Red Twist Flavor" was introduced in 1952.

Red Vines are also produced in Super Rope form, Snaps (little pieces) and come in bags, mixed bags(red and black) and 4lb tubs.

Red Vines taste even better when eaten in a dark movie theatre. I often smuggle red vines in with me when I go to the flics (who wants to pay 3.95 for a sleeve of licorice).

When I was about 10 I tried red licorice for the first time. I went with a friend to the movies, her mom had let her take a tub of red licorice in (I don't remember how we smuggled it in - probably under her sweater) - we proceeded to eat the entire tub. I don't remember the movie we saw... but I do remember the bad case of hives I got all over my back as a result of eating two pounds of licorice!

To this day my love of candy often overrides common sense!

The prize for this month will be announced on the 5th - as will the winner for the August Candy Club Challenge.

YOU STILL HAVE 5 DAYS to post about your

Boston Baked Beans!

NOTE: You don't have to have a blog to join the Candy Club - just create a google account and you can leave your candy comment to join!

In the meantime...

Okay, you got me on this one! Don't you think red vines should be a fruit? I mean there isn't any fat in them, that practically makes them good for you!

I always tried turning them into a straw to drink my Coke. Bite off both ends and use super human sucking strength.

Red Vines - one of my all time faves! I don't know who buys those cheap knock-offs, they are horrendous! A containtre of Red Vines will be in the box of goodies I am sending my nieces and nephew in WA this month! I can't see a movie without Red Vines!

My husband loves Red Vines. He rushed right out and purchased two bags of them once I told him it was the new candy of the month. They didn't last long either. He warned me he could eat a bag full in one sitting...and he wasn't kiddin' There one minute gone the next. I don't eat them myself, so thank goodness he's around.
